People seek individual psychotherapy for a wide variety of reasons, from trying to cope with major life challenges or childhood trauma, to dealing with depression or anxiety, to simply desiring personal growth and greater self-knowledge. In a safe, caring and confidential space, we explore these difficulties and look at how they are impacting on your life and the changes you wish to make. Psychodynamic psychotherapy does not offer a “quick fix”. It requires time and personal commitment to the process. We will work collaboratively together during sessions, but much of the work will be done by you in between sessions through reflecting on the content and interactions of the sessions.
Dealing with your problems is not always a rainbows and roses experience. At times therapy can make you feel uncomfortable, sad or discouraged, or even angry when facing difficult realities, or when you become aware of painful things that you were previously unaware of. It is in these difficult moments that the most growth and insight will develop, and you can begin to function effectively and with renewed energy in the different aspects of your life.
