Batesthi Matenge

I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and with the Board of Health Care Funders (BHF).

I am also registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the United Kingdom and the Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC). I completed my Master’s in Clinical Psychology (cum laude) degree at the University of Cape Town and have several post-qualification certifications.

I offer psychoanalytic oriented psychotherapy. This means that the work we do together aims to deal with your current difficulties and help you identify patterns in your thoughts, behaviours, and choices that may lead to a lack of satisfaction in your life.

Advocacy

I am passionate about advocacy and activism within mental health and education. In 2017, I co-founded an education foundation with a cause to empower disadvantaged adolescent girls through education. My community service year working at the East Rand clinics inspired the establishment of this foundation.

I was also a team member that participated in the Life Esidimeni tragedy and contributed to the landmark legal award. The work won a community award in Psychoanalysis and Law at the International Psychoanalysis Association conference in 2019 in the United Kingdom.
